Jim’s Issues
Jim Weidner is dedicated to limiting government growth and waste.
In 2007, the Democrat controlled state government increased spending by 20% and saddled Oregonians with $923 million in new state debt. Despite record state revenue and a state recession, there was $620 million in new taxes and fees. State government grew by 1,178 new state employees with $12 million in pay raises by Gov. Kulongoski to political appointees. An additional $20 million in pay raises given to unions who were upset about the political appointees pay raise. This spending is out-of-control. With shameful disregard for us, the Oregon taxpayer, it is no surprise that 30 House Democrats opposed Republican sponsored HB 2550, the plan to hire a legislative auditor to review performance of government spending to state agencies and guarantee fiscal responsibility. Monitoring state revenue and spending is just common sense.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to improving transportation.
The Dundee bypass is essential to the survival of family wage jobs in Yamhill Co. It is time to act upon the years of expensive prospecting at the cost of the taxpayer. My plan backed by community leaders, is to use the existing right of way of the old railway tracks that run parallel to Dundee to establish four lanes of traffic, two going in each direction. We must finally conclude with actual construction plans to alleviate the bottleneck that hinders local and commercial transportation.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to DHS reform.
The necessity of reform is highlighted by the “baby Gabriel” case-study where it is evident that our state-run organization has done little to better the lives of these displaced children, and has actually done irreversible damage to the psyche of numerous children. The illogical actions taken by this bureaucracy with my personal interaction displays how unsuccessful the replacement of at-risk-youth has been.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to improving educational quality through school choice.
A strong belief that parents know how to make the best decisions for their children, not government bureaucrats and unions is an essential foundation of freedom.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to preserving the 2nd Amendment.
The right to keep and bear arms granted by our Constitution is essential to the survival of the republic.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to protecting and preserving traditional family values. During the “special session,” Democrats ignored our voice, the voting Oregonian, to remain marriage as defined by traditional heterosexual union and passed the “domestic partnership law” granting same-sex couples the same benefits as traditional marriage. The family unit is the core of our society, and so is our voice in civic action.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to improving and regulating immigration reform.
We must actively pursue common sense solutions for our community. We need an economically viable and considerate solution that encompasses our unique American immigration heritage while preserving intact our laws that prevent “open border” insecurity issues.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to protecting your civil liberties and your initiative freedoms.
State politicians, public employee unions, and bureaucrats have been waging a 15-year war against your initiative process. This process gives all citizens an active venue for legislative action through signature gathering that results in ballot measures. Many want to limit this ability to petition the government and will attempt to circumvent numerous measures voted by Oregonians by introducing them back into our state legislature regardless of public consent.
Jim Weidner is dedicated to protecting property rights.
The right to control your property is a fundamental pillar of our society. When you have worked hard to legally claim your property, you should not be forced to fight state and local government that wants to devalue your property.
